FIFA confirms: Russia to host the 2018 World Cup despite US pressure

fifa-logo-2(April 4) – The International Football Federation (FIFA), through a spokesman, has ratified Russia as host of the 2018 World Cup , rejecting the request of a group of US senators, including Republican John McCain.

According to the spokesman, “the tournament can be a powerful catalyst for constructive dialogue between peoples and governments, helping to bring about social change”.

“Football cannot be considered as a solution to all problems, especially those relating to international politics,” continues Fisher.

According to the source, the football World Cup has already become other times a “force for good” so, “the FIFA believe that this is the case the world of Russia in 2018″.

Previously, a group of 13 US senators from both the Republican and Democratic parties issued a letter urging FIFA to deprive Russia of the right to host the 2018 World Cup.

“To allow Russia to host the world means increasing the prestige of the Putin regime at a time when you have to reprove; means lending financial support when most of the international community imposed sanctions, “says the letter that the senators sent to FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

In it, the federation requested the convening of an extraordinary congress to address the issue, warning that a negative would qualify as unacceptable.

Russia was chosen to host the 2010 soccer World Cup to be held in 11 cities across the country between June 14 to July 15, 2018.
