Before the Civil War, Real Madrid was the team he sympathized all the political left. On 14 April 1931 the Second Republic was proclaimed in Spain. To break with the previous symbolism and break away from the monarchy, it was decided to remove the crown of the shield and put a purple diagonal stripe in honor of the tricolor. The club also changed its name and became known as Madrid Football Club , disappearing the word Real.
With the advent of the Dictatorship to Spain in 1939, the crown was restored in the shield and the name of Real on the computer but a small detail was forgotten. The purple diagonal stripe crossing the shield was not suppressed and continued until today. Now, to celebrate 75 years of resistance in the city of Madrid to the army of Franco , a group of fans wants to create the first Republican rock called ‘The purple band’ on 7 November.
