2 March 2016 (playerstribune.com) – It was my first Christmas at home in 10 years. My family always has a big party with all our relatives — aunts, uncles, friends, turkey, beer, stories, laughter.

I can hear people start coming in the door upstairs, asking, “Where’s Adam?” The sound of their footsteps is like thunder. It’s breaking my brain. I’m supposed to be the big-shot pro hockey player, telling crazy stories about my adventures playing in Europe.

Rick Nash forced to retire from hockey due to concussion issues

Rick Nash has announced his retirement from hockey after suffering a concussion last March.

Top Shelf Hockey, which represents the 34-year-old winger from Brampton, Ont., put out a statement to announce his decision on Friday. Continue reading

Oilers cross Boston picket line

On October 7, the Edmonton Oilers hockey team checked in at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Boston, a Marriott hotel. As they got off the bus, the team was greeted by a group of hotel workers on strike, members of Local 26 of the Hospital and Food Servers Union. 7,700 Marriott workers are out in six cities across the USA: San Diego, Detroit, San Francisco, San Jose, and Boston. They are demanding the richest hotel company in the world recognize them. Major junior hockey player cut for not publicly supporting Canadian aggression in Afghanistan

The New Brunswick Saint John Sea Dogs, a hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, cut player Dave Bouchard for not signing a Canadian flag to be sent to troops engaged in the aggressive war of occupation in Afghanistan. The hockey team is a subsidiary of Maple Leaf Foods, which forms part of the McCain family Empire. Continue reading
