Women’s World Cup underway in France

The 2019 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) women’s football world cup is underway in France with 24 countries participating in the games. The world cup will end on July 7. China faces uphill task against US in women’s World Cup quarters

OTTAWA (June 22) – China will meet the United States, the 2-0 winner over Colombia in a last 16 encounter on Monday, for a Women’s World Cup semifinal spot in a repeat of 1999 final.

Although the US was unbeaten against China in the World Cup and Olympics, the “Steel Roses” may have opportunities to reach the last four this time. Continue reading

Stadium in Halifax? Another $2 million… Oops…

THE NEWS that it was news to HRM Councilor Steve Streatch is hardly comforting. If Halifax becomes one of the host cities for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup (limited edition/no major games), it turns out we won’t just be on the hook for a $60-million stadium to hold the games.
